FINNISH DARK VIRTUOSOS SWALLOW THE SUN SET TO RELEASE LATEST ALBUM ‘NEW MOON’ VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS UK ON NOVEMBER 9TH 2009
DOOM MASTERS Swallow The Sun will release their latest/fifth studio album ‘New Moon’ through Spinefarm Records UK on November 9th.
The follow-up to 2008’s ‘Plague Of Butterflies’ mini-album, ‘New Moon’ was produced and mixed by Jens Borgen (Katatonia, Opeth, Paradise Lost, Amon Amarth) at Fascination Street studios in Sweden, Orebro. Talking about the new album, STS guitarist and main song writer, Juha Raivio, comments:
“This new record is the most progressive, sorrowful, beautiful and evil one we have done so far. This time around, you can never be sure where the songs are going to take you. The depths of hell and heaven are carved deep into these songs”.
THE FULL TRACKLISTING FOR ‘NEW MOON’ IS AS FOLLOWS:
1. These Woods Breathe Evil
2. Falling World
3. Sleepless Swans
4. And Heavens Cried Blood
5. New Moon
6. Lights on the Lake (Horror pt. III)
7. Servant of Sorrow
8. Weight of the DeaD
The eight tracks on ‘New Moon’ are the first to feature new drummer Kai Hahto (Wintersun, ex-Rotten Sound), who replaces Pasi Pasanen in the ranks.
Back in 2008, the Finnish sextet played their first ever UK date on the main-stage at the annual Bloodstock Festival, following this up with a full UK tour special guesting with cello maestros, Apocalyptica. Their next confirmed date over here is at this year’s Metalfest in Dudley on September 26th.
Spinefarm Records UK recently re-issued the bands’ first two albums – ‘The Morning Never Came’ (originally released in 2003) and ‘Ghosts Of Loss’ (2005). The classic ‘Hope’ album, which charted in the Finnish Top 3 back in 2007, has also been re-issued by Spinefarm in the UK.
