NEW TARJA ALBUM ‘WHAT LIES BENEATH’ CONFIRMED FOR SEPTEMBER 06th RELEASE VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS UK...
This new record has been lovingly produced by Tarja herself, working in studios around the world, and it features the musicians she has been playing with on the road: drummer Mike Terrana, guitarist Alex Scholpp, bassist Doug Wimbish, keyboard player Christian Kretschmar & former Apocalyptica cellist Max Lilja. In addition to these core players, there are also a number of special guests, including guitarist Joe Satriani, vocalist Phil Labonte from All That Remains and German acappella troupe Van Canto.
Mixing of the album tracks has been divided between Colin Richardson (whose track record numbers artists such as Slipknot, Machine Head & Bullet For My Valentine); Tim Palmer (HIM, Ozzy, Pearl Jam, etc.) and Slamm Andrews (an engineer generally involved with movie music).
More immediately, however, Tarja has released a new track, ‘Falling Awake’, as a vinyl 10” and digital download via Spinefarm Records UK.
The highly collectible vinyl format has been limited to 1000 copies, all of them pressed onto ‘marbled’ vinyl & numbered by hand, and is currently available exclusively from online www.whatrecords.co.uk
This version of the track differs from the one that will appear on ‘What Lies Beneath’ in that it features a special guest appearance from Five Finger Death Punch and former Alice Cooper guitarist Jason Hook. The album version features Joe Satriani.
The B-side of the 10” is ‘The Good Die Young’ – a specially mixed version of the song from the new Scorpions album, ‘Sting In The Tail’, with Tarja’s vocals now more prominent overall.
The release of ‘What Lies Beneath’ will be preceded by single/video ‘Until My Last Breath’ on August 30th.
On the live front, Tarja has recently announced a headline London date for Wednesday, October 13th – only the third time that the former Nightwish singer has played live in the UK under her own name.
The show will take place at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in West London, with a special guest act due to be confirmed shortly.
Further UK shows & festival appearances are being looked into for 2011.
