RAMMSTEIN RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR 'MEIN LAND'
AS WITH their last few single releases, Rammstein – the East Berlin sextet whose stage performances are legendary and whose international album sales are in the millions – have chosen Swedish director and former member of black metal outfit Bathory, Jonas Akerlund, to direct the clip that accompanies brand new single ‘Mein Land’ - the lead track from their first ever Best Of album, ‘Made In Germany - 1995 – 2011’.
‘Mein Land’, released November 14th on CD & download with the 7” vinyl version following shortly after, has been produced by Rammstein’s regular studio collaborator, Jacob Hellner, and is supported on the single by both remixes and previously unreleased studio material. ‘Made In Germany...' follows on December 5th.
The ‘Mein Land’ video, meanwhile, sees Akerlund and the band once again exploring unexpected territory; in the past, they have collectively delved into the homo-erotic ('Mann Gegen Mann') and the simply erotic ('Pussy'), but this time the theme is the Beach Boys-approved Southern Californian surf culture of the 1960s - a rich seam allowing for the full gamut of sun, sea, sex & surfing to be explored, with a bit of 'Baywatch' thrown into the mix for good measure.
Naturally, things take a far darker turn towards the climax, but then what Rammstein clip would be truly complete without over-the-top make-up, gimp costumes and, of course, FIRE!
