AMORAL 'Show Your Colors' Album ...

Amoral’s latest studio album ‘Show Your Colors’ has just been released through Spinefarm Records UK. The 11-track ‘SYC’ (including songs such as “Random Words”, “Sex N’ Satan” and the hit single “Year Of The Suckerpunch”) is the fourth studio outing from the Helsinki crew, and is the first to feature new singer Ari Koivunen – already a platinum-selling artist in Finland with two solo albums to his name.

With a clear change in musical direction, the band focused their efforts on a more melodic approach to their brand of rock. Commenting on the departure from their death-metal roots, band guitarist Ben Varon states that :-

"Yes, on 'Reptile Ride' we’d already begun flirting with more melodic vocals and there were a lot of riffs and parts there that had nothing to do with 'technical death metal', which is how many people saw us. So musically, I see this as a natural follow-up to that album. The all-new vocal style and sound just makes the change seem more drastic than it really is … It was just time to do something different. All of us grew up listening to more melodic stuff, and all of my favourite artists have big choruses and melodic singing, so when Niko (Kalliojarvi, previous frontman) left the band and we had the opportunity to find a more versatile singer we decided to take full advantage … we knew that some of the old fans might be pissed off with the way our music was heading, but at the end of the day we just couldn't let that affect our decision-making concerning the band. Luckily, there were no arguments amongst ourselves – we all agreed that melodic vocals were the way to go!"
